Free Basic Education at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chapra
Non formal education at the primary school level is provided at ‘Adbhutananda Shikshayan’. About 600 children aged 5 to 14 enrolled in daily primary school classes are taught basic subjects. Advanced students get coaching and counceling. The majority of students attend registered government funded public schools before coming in the afternoon to the Ashrama for classes. They get effective tutoring in the primary subjects for 2 or 3 hours. They get warm milk and some nourishing food item daily before leaving the Ashrama for home. At present, besides at the Ashrama proper, Chapra Ashrama also supports / runs similar primary schools (Latu Maharaj Pathshalas) in three villages near Chapra town. However it has not been possible up to the present to provide daily food and milk to the village students, only periodic medical check-ups.
